About Thai Vedic

Stephen Nock
I first got interested in massage in 1999 when I undertook a Shiatsu massage practitioner’s course at the Ki Kai School of Shiatsu. At the time I was not yet ready to set up business as a massage practitioner, however I spent much of my spare time during the Noughties giving massages to friends and colleagues at London Cycling Campaign, Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), (where I worked, latterly as a Research and Advocacy Adviser on Teachers and Health workers issues for 12 years) and at VSO Rwanda where I undertook and published some research into gender inequality in education.

In 2011 I had the opportunity to visit Thailand and enrolled on the Thai Massage School of Chiang Mai‘s Comprehensive Thai Massage Diploma course. Later that year I decided to deepen my knowledge of Thai massage and enrolled at the Mudita School of Thai Massage in London, where I completed their Advanced Diploma Course.

Since establishing Thai-vedic massage in 2013, I have trained in Ayurvedic massage therapies at Ayurveda Pura and Tri- Dosha in London; in Ayurvedic Yoga Massage and Ayurvedic Deep Tissue Massage at Rasovai in Goa, and in  Ayurvedic Baby Massage and Chavitti Uzhichil at the School of Ayurveda and Panchakarma in Kerala

In 2016 I continued my Thai massage journey by training in Thai Reflexology Foot Massage at the Thai Massage School Shivagakomarpaj & Old Medicine Hospital and in Dancing Thai Massage, with the inspiring and joyful teacher Kam Thye Chow and in Advanced Stretches annd Techniques with the amazing Suriyan Punyafoo at the Sunshine School of Traditional Thai Massage, in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

We have full public liability insurance from the Complementary Therapists Association (CThA). I’m also a member of the Thai Healing Alliance.

I got interested in massage after my first trip to Asia in 2012, where I experienced the relaxing and healing effects of this ancient traditional art. Since then I went back every year to India and Thailand to study massage therapy and other related healing practices: yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, Qi Gong and Tai Chi. Learning Thai Yoga massage and Indian Ayurvedic massage in their countries of origin gave me a deeper understanding of these traditional massage styles and their healing and beneficial uses.

I first got certified in Traditional Thai Yoga massage at the Shivagakomarpaj - Old Medicine Hospital school in Chiang Mai (Thailand) in 2013 and followed with advanced training courses at the Sunshine Massage School and International Training Massage School (ITM) both also in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 2014 and 2015.

In India, I studied in Kerala, at the School of Ayurveda and Panchakarma, taking courses in Ayurvedic massage and Pregnancy and Baby care (2014). I then continued my training in Indian massage studying Ayurvedic Yoga massage and Ayurvedic Deep Tissue massage at Rasovai School in Goa in 2015 - where I met Stephen!

I have been working as a full-time massage therapist in different venues in London since June 2015 and now it is a pleasure for me to work with Stephen Nock in his beautiful Thai Vedic massage practice, where we share our passion for these wonderful Indian and Thai massage techniques that enable us to help the clients who reach us for pain-management, relaxation and well-being of body and mind.
